For decades, these silver coins struck by the Mexico Mint were used as legal tender in the United States and continued to circulate informally, especially in the South and West. The Mexican coat of arms is displayed on the obverse of the coin. On its reverse, the bold Cap and Rays design adopted the Phrygian cap, a symbol of liberty used on many early U.S. coins. Fine to Very Fine quality.
