Product Description
When we consider stamps we think of paper and ink, but these useful philatelic items have evolved with the times. This machine embroidered stamp, issued in 2000 commemorates the St. Gallen embroidery industry. It was the first postage stamp that was actually embroidered instead of showing a printed engraving of an embroidered piece. The craft of embroidery was an important trade in the 18th and 19th centuries in Switzerland. Using a combination of traditional design and modern manufacturing techniques this textile stamp honors that history. The self-adhesive 5 franc stamp is stitched with beautiful flowers and the word Helvetia, which is the female national personification of Switzerland. Mint, never hinged.Product Videos
