First struck in 1840, the Seated Liberty silver dollar later underwent a design modification in 1866 to include a scroll with "IN GOD WE TRUST" on its reverse, thereby creating this second "with motto" subtype. These "with motto" 90% silver dollars were minted in limited numbers — from 1866 to the series' end in 1873, output ranged from as few as 700 up to 1.1 million. The big coin was heavily exported and later melted, leaving few for collectors today. Good quality.
