Originally U.S. proof sets were produced at the principal Philadelphia Mint. But as outputs for the popular series rose, proof sets became a specialty of the San Francisco Mint in 1968. Soon this state-of-the-art facility was exclusively devoted to creating incomparable limited-mintage proof coins. Each proof is meticulously produced with the facility's sophisticated equipment and features crisp raised-relief designs combined with mirror finishes.
In 1968, the San Francisco Mint also introduced superior sealed cases for its proof sets. These airtight cases have assured that each proof coin in the set retains its original pristine beauty. The transparent plastic cases display both sides of each coin as they protect them. Frosted proof engravings were inaugurated at the San Francisco Mint in the 1970s. This elegant enhancement has made S-Mint proofs even more popular.
Our inclusive San Francisco proof set collection includes every S-mint U.S. proof set from the first 1968 issue to the final 5-coin 1998 set. (In 1999 the 50 State Quarter series began and U.S. proof sets grew to include two or more cases per year.) That's thirty one sets and TWO FREE PROOF SET STORAGE BOXES for one low price!
