Product Description
The CC mintmark carries and irresistible aura of the Old West and only about 2% of all Morgans were struck at the Carson City Nevada mint. After minting, many were held in storage and never entered commerce, leading to the discovery of a large number during the Treasury release in the 1960s. Eventually the GSA (U.S. General Services Administration) took charge of the final hoard of several million silver dollars, the vast majority of which were CC issues. These specimens were mounted in plastic holders and sold to the general public. Since the GSA release, many have been cracked out of their cases leaving fewer intact. Today these specimens in GSA holders are highly desired by collectors. Original GSA case, Brilliant Uncirculated quality.
