Product Description
When these issues were minted, these big, 1 1/2 inch, 90% silver dollars were a days pay for many Americans. The popular series was the longest silver dollar series in U.S. history, encompassing 28 different dates and almost 100 separate issues. The vast majority have since been lost through melts and attrition. Today only about 17% of original Morgan silver dollar mintages are estimated to survive. And far fewer remain in this top quality. A `near-gem` MS-64 coin was generally struck with fresh dies, so it has a far superior luster and crispness compared to average Brilliant Uncirculated coins. To qualify for this high level of grading, a coin must have truly outstanding luster on both sides. And the coins surface must be near-flawless. Each comes in a protective transparent case, with MS-64 consensus grading certification by the Professional Coin Grading Service or Numismatic Guaranty Corporation.
