These unassuming relics of WWII serve as an important reminder of the sacrifices Americans made on both the front lines and home front for the good of their country. To combat inflation during the war the Office of Price Administration (OPA) tightened the belts of all citizens by implementing a nationwide rationing system. Composed of vulcanized fiber, these little red OPA tokens were used to make change for meats and fats purchased with the traditional ration stamps.
