Broken banknotes — obsolete American paper currency — is always extremely popular with our customers. We've acquired a small stash of $1 banknotes that were themselves stashed away — discovered in a long-forgotten hoard of paper currency in the basement of the Rhode Island State House. Before the Civil War, the issuance of paper currency from private financial institutions varied from state to state. Printed for only a few years, these ornate notes hailed from the short-lived Bank of the Republic in Providence. Plain back, 7¼" x 3". Circulated quality.
