Product Description
1878-S MORGAN SILVER DOLLAR BU: San Fran's inaugural 1878-S issue introduced the Morgan silver dollar to the West. The first five years of Morgan dollars output by San Francisco are considered to be the best struck in the entire series and of the quintet of early dates, this 1878-S issue is the scarcest overall. Our BU specimens boast nice original luster and no sign of wear, just like when they left the west coast mint more than 14 decades ago.
1901-O MORGAN SILVER DOLLAR BU: Among 20th century Morgan dollars, 1901 is by far the toughest date to find in mint-state condition; many have since been lost to melts and general attrition. But of those surviving 1901 issues output by Philadelphia, San Francisco and New Orleans, only the O-Mint Morgan is still affordable in BU quality. The high grade mint-state specimens struck by the principal mint and San Fran sell for thousands to hundreds of thousands of dollars if they can be found! Our 1901-O BU Morgans have nice original luster, no sign of wear and won't break the bank!
1885 MORGAN SILVER DOLLAR BU: Morgan mintages steadily rose in the 1880s, when silver was still pouring out of the great Western mines. But unlike other coins of the day, many were held in reserve and later lost in government melts, therefore published mintages can be deceiving in relation to the actual number now surviving. Today as little as 6% of the original 17.8 million Morgans output by Philadelphia in 1885 is estimated to remain in the beautiful BU quality offered here.
1921-D MORGAN SILVER DOLLAR BU: The Denver Mint did not yet exist when the Morgan series was suspended after the last issues of 1904. To fulfill requirements of the 1918 Pittman Act, silver dollars were resurrected for a final hurrah in 1921 which resulted in the sole Denver issue of the Morgan series. Although over 20 million silver dollars were churned out by the Mile High mint, today about 3% of the original output is estimated to survive in Uncirculated grades. These lovely BU specimens sport the famously tiny micro-mintmark.
