In only the second year of the series, just 756,000 Morgans were output for commerce by Carson City in 1879. In today's world, that translates to a very small number of specimens that survive in mint-state quality – their scarcity commands a premium: in 2023 an MS-66+ grade sold at auction for $192,000! While most collector's pockets aren't that deep, the silver lining is that this CC issue is (by comparison) reasonably affordable in our lightly circulated Extra Fine quality.
