Having outgrown its original facility, in 1874 the San Francisco Mint opened its new digs, complete with the most advanced minting contraptions, gadgets and gizmos of the day. Its minting prowess was still apparent six years later when it produced the 1880-S Morgan; today this issue is considered the closest rival to the 1881-S that is widely regarded as the most beautifully struck coin of the entire series. Although circulated, our Extra Fine 1880-S specimens still retain vestiges of San Fran's glorious legacy.Product Videos
