The CC mintmark, which carries the irresistible aura of the Old West is featured on only about 2% of all Morgans. After production, many CC Morgans were held in storage and never entered commerce, but then large numbers of these beauties were released by the U.S. Treasury in the 1960s. Eventually, the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) took charge of the final issues. These specimens were mounted in plastic holders and sold to collectors. Since release, many have been cracked out of their cases leaving fewer intact. Today these Brilliant Uncirculated specimens are highly desired by collectors.
