Product Description
Most Morgan collectors dream of calling at least one CC silver dollar their own. Yet only a fraction of collectors will actually be able to boast of owning the Wild West treasure in this impressive quality – after all, Carson City's total production accounted for just 2% of the entire Morgan series.
When the Treasury began selling off its hoard of Morgan silver dollars in the 1960s, a significant portion were discovered to be coveted CC issues. In the following decades, the General Services Administration (GSA) was tasked with dispersing the remaining Carson City specimens, which were specially mounted in plastic cases and sold to collectors. Many examples have since been removed from their GSA mounts, leaving a much smaller number available in this now-desirable state.
