Morgan mintages steadily rose in the 1880s due to the plethora of silver found in Western mines. Instead of being released into circulation after striking, many of these 1883 Philadelphia issues were held in reserve, but during the 20th century untold numbers were melted. These Extra Fine specimens escaped the melting pot and were lightly circulated.Product Videos
