Product Description
If you've been staring at that empty hole in your collection where an 1893 Morgan ought to go, now's a great time to fill it. A special purchase has allowed us to offer these hard to come by Philadelphia specimens in sharply detailed Extra Fine condition.
The repeal of the Sherman Silver Purchase Act in 1893 led to a drastic plunge in silver dollar production. As a result, that year only 378,000 Morgans were struck by the principal mint. In fact, the 1893 issue is the third-rarest of all Philadelphia's circulation strikes – with an estimated surviving population of around 40,000 Morgans it has become a highly desirable acquisition for collectors. Ultimately, the low survival rate coupled with demand contributes to this issue's considerable price tag – even average BU specimens sell for nearly $4,000!
