This single-date tribute to Valor of the Soldier of the South was authorized in 1925, just 60 years after the end of the conflict. Gutzon Borglum, the illustrious sculptor who would later be know for the Mount Rushmore Memorial was responsible for the design of the commemorative coin that would ultimately help fund the carving of giant Confederate soldiers on Stone Mountain, Georgia. The 90% silver half dollars obverse features Generals Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson on horseback and on its reverse is a formidable American Eagle. Lustrous Brilliant Uncirculated quality.
