As if writing the Declaration of Independence and serving as the third U.S. President wasn't enough, history tells us that Thomas Jefferson was also an avid fossil collector, wine snob, foodie and architect. Had he miraculously lived for another 112 years, T.J. could've also added the nickel to his already-impressive resume! Debuting in 1938, the Jefferson nickel shared its date with the final Buffalo issue. In its inaugural year, a combined 28,977,000 nickels were struck by Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco. While that seems like a significant number, the series' peak mintage of 1.7 billion was achieved in 1964 by Denver. You'll get a 1938 P, D and S specimen in Very Good/Fine quality.
