Product Description
This early date Denver Mint Franklin, from the last half dollar series to be completely struck in traditional 90% silver, had a circulation mintage of just 4.1 million. Later individual mintages in the 1948-1963 series reached as high as 67 million. When Congress authorized the Franklin silver half dollar in 1948, it was expected to be issued for at least 25 consecutive years. But following the tragic loss of President Kennedy, Congress quickly approved a new Kennedy half dollar. Clearly detailed Very Fine quality.
