Product Description
Less well-known than the JFK half dollars that began circulation in 1964, the Franklin half dollar was introduced in 1948. Produced by the Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco mints, these half dollars were the final series minted completely with 90% silver content.
These 1951-S Franklin half dollars were produced at the San Francisco mint; S-mint coins were only issued in 5 of the series 15 years. Less than 7% of all Franklin half dollars carry an S mintmark, making these coins a great item for collectors.
