Just 6.2 million Franklin half dollar BUs were minted in Philadelphia in 1959. That same year over twice as many of the coins were produced at the Denver mint, the only other facility to produce Franklins in 1959. Only a limited number of those over half-century old coins remain today in mint-state quality and many of them are already in established collections.
