Product Description
1963-P Franklin & 1964-P Kennedy Silver Half Dollar Pair, Brilliant Uncirculated. The years 1963 and 1964 mark an important time in American numismatic history. First issued in the late 1940s, the Franklin silver half dollar continued into 1963 as the circulating 50-cent piece of the day. At the time, no one could have anticipated that this would be the final year for the Franklin half dollar... but then tragedy struck when President Kennedy was assassinated, leaving the country reeling.
Kennedy's end coincided with the demise of the Franklin half dollar. Just months after his death, a new coin would be released in his honor. Not only did the 1964 Kennedy half dollar supplant the Franklin coin, but it would also prove to be the last with 90% silver content struck for commerce.
Philadelphia Mint issues, Brilliant Uncirculated quality.
