Samuel Langhorne Clemens, whose pen name was Mark Twain, was a popular author and humorist in his own time — and today his writings are still admired; both Huck Finn and Tom Saywer have never gone out of print since they were first published more than 13 decades ago. 

The engravings on this coin feature an assortment of Twain's characters, including the knight and horse from A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court, the frog from The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County, and Jim and Huck from the very popular Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.
