This large .925 sterling silver crown was issued to mark the coronation of English King George VI. Although second in line to the crown, George VI was never expected to inherit the throne, but was made King after his brother, Edward VIII abdicated in a scandalous turn of events. Similar in size and weight to a British crown, this nearly-one ounce Australian coin depicts the bust of George VI on its obverse and Queen Victoria's Diamond Crown on the reverse. Sharply detailed Extra Fine quality.
