Product Description
America’s first pennies were once hulking copper pieces - nearly four times the weight of subsequent small cents! Those cumbersome coppers would eventually be replaced by the Flying Eagle, launching America into the era of small-sized cents. But the pioneering series was brief - its high relief design made minting the coin difficult and after only two years was supplanted by the Indian Head cent. Our set includes two Indian Head cents - an early copper-nickel specimen and an 1865 bronze piece. Our choice of dates based on availability.
