The Hawaii overprint emergency currency of WWII is always popular with our customers. We typically offer the $1 silver certificate, but we jumped at a recent opportunity to acquire these much more scarce $10 and $20 overprint Federal Reserve Notes. After the bombing of Pearl Harbor emergency currency was issued for the islands. Easily identified by overprinted brown Treasury seals, serial numbers, and the word HAWAII, these FRNs could be demonetized if they fell into the hands of Japanese invaders. Following Allied victory, a large portion of these notes were recalled and destroyed. Circulated quality. Our choice of series designation.
