Product Description
U.S. 1853-1855 Seated Liberty Half Dime. The long-obsolete silver half dime was the first U.S. Mint coin struck in 1792 and shared the Seated Liberty design with the U.S. dime, quarter, half dollar, and silver dollar. We are offering the Arrow at Date variety. From 1853-1855, when the value of precious metal rose, the government reduced the amount of silver in coins to avoid widespread melting. Arrows were added on either side of the half dime's date to signify the change. Of the half dime's 36 years of issue, only those from the three years from 1853-1855 carry the arrows. Well-traveled Good quality. Date of our choice.15.5mm
