It was minted in celebration of the XV FIFA World Cup Soccer Tournament which was held for the first time in the United States in 1994. Played over four weeks in nine different cities, the event was a surprising success and broke previous attendance records. Shown on the obverse is a soccer player in action. The reverse incorporates the World Cup logo. Finest-quality proof minting features deep-struck engravings and frosted finishes that contrast with mirror-like backgrounds.
