The Ike series was brief — although popular with collectors, the hefty dollar proved cumbersome in commerce and was discontinued in 1978. These clad 1974 specimens were output by the Philadelphia Mint and still remain in impressive Brilliant Uncirculated condition nearly 50 years later.
