The very limited mintage of 5,275,000 in 1870 was the lowest production for Indian Head cents to that date. Over twenty times that number were output later in the series! That small mintage, produced almost a century-and-a-half ago, makes this issue significantly tougher to acquire than many other dates. And the harder a coin is to find, the higher its value.
