This early 90% silver commemorative half dollar was issued by the state of Illinois to celebrate the 100th anniversary of its acceptance into the Union. Its obverse was designed by George T. Morgan and features the former president and man who succeeding in holding the United States together as one nation, Abraham Lincoln. The reverse is based on the State Seal of Illinois.
