This semi-key date was struck over eight decades ago during the Great Depression. Coin demand was rapidly declining due to the worsening economic climate and mintages for the long-running Lincoln series were strongly effected. In 1930 the Denver Mint produced over 40 million Lincoln cents, the very next year less than 4.5 million cents were struck, making the 1931-D issue among the lowest mintages in the series. Our Fine quality is well-preserved.
