Product Description
In 1898 the U.S. entered the Spanish American War. Despite this, the country was bustling at the end of the 19th century; Atlantic City opened its famous amusement pier in New Jersey, the Goodyear Tire company was founded and the Winton Motor Carriage Company became one of the first American manufacturers to sell a car. Even with all the hubbub, Morgan dollar mintages had plummeted in the 1890s after the repeal of the Sherman Silver Purchase Act — only about one-third as many silver dollars were output in 1898 as compared to a decade before; those low mintages led to some of the series' rarities. Although Philadelphia struck more Morgans that year than New Orleans, far fewer survive today in collectible condition. Add this affordable 90% silver dollar to your collection in nicely detailed Very Fine quality.
