Product Description
Introduced in the 2000 millennium year, the compact Sacagawea dollar hoped to revive the dollar coin in commerce, but the public didn't embrace it. Production drastically dropped and the U.S. Mint decided to continue issuing Sacagawea dollars only in limited-mintage collector editions. In 2009 the U.S. Mint introduced one-year-only reverse designs celebrating the contributions of Native Americans to the history of the United States. This sixth year Hospitality issue honors the Native American's generosity toward Lewis and Clark.
