Product Description
In the Morgan dollar's 1878 first year of issue, the eagle's original eight tail feathers were disputed. George T. Morgan then prepared master dies with seven tail feathers, corresponding to his original conception. But some remaining 8-tail feather dies were over-punched with the new 7-tail feather hub and the new image did not totally cover the previous one. The result was the 7-over-8 variety, even scarcer than the first type in the Brilliant Uncirculated quality we offer.
