Product Description
1882 Philadelphia BU: Huge numbers of this early Philly Mint Morgan were lost in government melts in the 20th century. Today as few as 300,000 of the original 11.1 million minted may remain in Uncirculated condition. Over 12 times as many BU issues of some other Morgans of the time may exist.
1882-O New Orleans BU: Expert opinion holds that this issue may be several times more elusive in mint-state quality than some legendary later New Orleans issues, which were once among the most prized in the series. As few as 162,000 BUs may now survive – that's less than 3% of the original output.
1882-S San Francisco BU: Most numismatists will generally agree that the best struck Morgans of the series were produced by the San Francisco Mint between 1878 and 1882. While the 1878-S issue is the scarcest overall, fewer mint-state 1882-S specimens are estimated to survive. It was the last of the great early S-Mint Morgans, whose minting excellence was never again equaled in the series.
1882-CC Carson City BU: Only about 2% of all Morgan silver dollar mintages were struck at this isolated Nevada mint, located near the fabled Comstock Lode. The CC mintmark carries an irresistible aura of the Old West. These lustrous silver dollars might have been robbed from banks in Treasury bags by desperadoes, then recovered by posses none the worse for wear.
