This early 90% silver commemorative half dollar was issued by the state of Illinois to celebrate its 100th anniversary of acceptance into the Union. Its obverse was designed by George T. Morgan and features the former resident and man who succeeding in holding the United States together as one nation, Abraham Lincoln. The reverse is based on the State Seal of Illinois. Slightly over 100,000 of these coins were struck over a century ago. Our specimens remain in Brilliant Uncirculated condition.
