"The shot heard around the world" was fired April 19, 1775. This silver half dollar was issued 150 years later to honor that first military engagements of the American Revolution, the Battle of Lexington and Concord. As the sesquicentennial of the battle neared, both the towns of Lexington and Concord were encouraging the minting of a commemorative coin. The final issue featured a Concord themed obverse and a reverse showing a Lexington landmark. Just 162,013 coins were minted 90 years ago. And only a portion of those remain today in this About Uncirculated quality with little wear and ample luster.
