Compared to their clad counterparts, far fewer 1976 Bicentennial Drummer Boy quarters were output in this collector-only 40% silver proof format. Slightly more than seven million copper-nickel specimens were produced for the year's standard clad proof set, while just four million were struck with precious silver for the special edition three-coin proof set.
