The 3,031,287 mintage of the 5-coin 1988 proof set was significantly smaller than the 1987 mintage and less than a quarter of the all-time high production of 1976. The 10-coin 1988 mint set's output was just 1,646,204, far lower than the previous year's 2,890,758. Both sets come in original U.S. Mint packaging to protect and display both sides of the coins.
