The U.S. Mint has created a special one year only Semiquincentennial coin program honoring the 250th anniversary of America's founding. Throughout 2026, circulating quarters will feature five different designs to mark the momentous milestone. This issue honoring the Declaration of Independence features Thomas Jefferson, author of the famous document and third President of the United States. The reverse engraving shows the Liberty Bell, an iconic symbol of the country's founding era that hung in the Pennsylvania State House (Independence Hall) when the Declaration of Independence was signed.
