These 90% silver reichsmarks show the Potsdam Garrison Church and were intended to celebrate the structure's 200th anniversary. But by 1934 when they were issued, Germany was already under Nazi control. Ever the opportunist, Hitler ensured that the coin was released in honor of the first year of Nazi rule, replete with propaganda. The obverse features the German Eagle, while edge incused lettering translates to: "Common good takes priority over self-interest." After the war, may of these coins were destroyed by the Allies. Very Fine quality. Our choice of 1934-1935 date.
