This superlative 1977-1979 silver coin proved to be North America's last issued for use in commerce. A hard-asset support for the peso, this 100 pesos denomination was discontinued and recalled after the price of silver soared in 1979. Shown is Jose Morelos y Pavon, among the martyred pantheon of the Republics founding fathers. On the obverse is a stylized modern depiction of the traditional engraving of the Mexican Eagle killing a snake. Brilliant Uncirculated quality.
