On the Lincoln penny's 50th anniversary in 1959, the Lincoln Memorial reverse replaced the long-standing Wheatie design. The very next year, in 1960 the U.S. Mint made some other design changes to the engravings which lead to four different Lincoln cents being struck in that year. Our complete set includes both Philadelphia (P) and Denver (D) Small Date and Large Date issues for a total of four coins. These Brilliant Uncirculated cents show the varied size dates clearly. The large date design became the standard for the beloved series, which continues today with a new Shield reverse engraving.
