This cent went down in history books as the first minor denomination to ever be struck outside of Philadelphia when it was output by the San Francisco Mint. It was also the first time that the S-mintmark would appear on the humble cent. With just 1,115,000 struck, the 1908-S had the third lowest mintage of the series after nearly a half century of production. Today, mint-state examples sell for thousands of dollars; by contrast our Good quality specimens are an affordable option for collectors.
