It's authoritatively estimated that as few as 162,000 of this issue may survive today in mint-state quality. Some S-mintmark San Francisco Mint Morgan issues of the time are up to 20 times more plentiful. And expert opinion holds that the 1882-O may be several times more elusive in our Brilliant Uncirculated quality than some of the legendary later New Orleans issues, which were once among the most prized in the series. Yet they cost as much or more today. Our Brilliant Uncirculated quality has nice original luster and no sign of wear (some bags marks are present, as is normal).
