Product Description
Morgan silver dollars were the only coins struck in the North, South and West during this era. This date is considered to be one of the "Fab Five" struck by the San Francisco Mint. At the time, the recently opened San Francisco branch had the nation's finest coin-producing equipment and specialized in Morgan silver dollars; thus the five S-Mint issues from 1878 to 1882 are considered by many numismatists to be some of the best and most beautifully struck in the entire 95-issue series. Today less than 8% of this 1882-S Morgan's original mintage remains in collectible quality. Sharply detailed Extra Fine quality.
