Product Description
This no-mintmark 1891 issue of the principal mint had an output only about half that of the 1890 Philadelphia Morgan dollar. Today as few as 230,000 are estimated to survive in mint-state quality (some earlier Morgan issues are vastly more plentiful). The year 1891 saw the founding of the American Numismatic Association in Chicago, the opening of Carnegie Hall in New York, James Naismith's invention of basketball in Springfield, MA and Thomas Edison's patent for a motion-picture camera. Our Brilliant Uncirculated quality has nice original luster and no sign of wear (some bags marks are present, as is normal).
