Only 2.8 million were struck for circulation in 1904 by the principal Philadelphia facility. Today, a silver dollar encyclopedia estimates that as few as 80,000 may exist in mint-state quality. That's just one for every 15 of the 1904-O (New Orleans) BUs, which were considered prime rarities until the last Treasury release of uncirculated bags.
