Product Description
Not long after the SBA's release into circulation in July of 1979, Americans had already developed a dislike for the small coin, due to its confusing similarity to the quarter. In an effort to distinguish between the two denominations, the Mint increased the width of the border rim on Philadelphia-minted coins, creating a second type referred to as a "Wide Rim" or "Near Date" in the collecting community. As the modification took place in the waning months of 1979, far fewer Near Date SBA dollars were produced, increasing the demand for these scarcer specimens, especially in the Brilliant Uncirculated condition we are offering today. 26.5mm 8.1g Copper-NickelProduct Videos
