Product Description
First introduced in 1916 during the Golden Age of American coinage, it takes just one glance at the Walker to understand why this coin is regarded as the United States' most magnificent silver piece.
The Walking Liberty half dollar circulated amid some of the most wonderful and difficult decades of America's past. Slated for retirement in 1941, Congress decided to extend the series through WWII, finally ending the Walker's service in 1947.
Brimming with symbolism, sculptor A.A. Weinman's gorgeous Liberty strides with arm outstretched toward a new dawn, with the Stars and Stripes draped around her graceful shoulders.
Weinman's reverse features a formidable eagle with wings raised defiantly. It perches atop a rock from which a lone pine sapling grows, symbolic of America's growth as a nation.
This set includes a circulated specimen from the 1910s and one from the 1920s, the 1936 issue in Extra Fine condition as well as all 20 P, D & S pieces from 1941-1947 in Good to Fine quality and a Whitman album.
